Gareth Bale: To solve Manchester united long-standing issue
Former Arsenal striker Stewart Robson urges Manchester United to sign Gareth Bale from Real Madrid this summer
Stewart Robson has told Jose Mourinho that Gareth Bale is the perfect player to solve Manchester United’s problem in wide areas.
One of the big criticisms of Manchester United last season was a lack of pace on either wing as Mourinho showed a reluctance to use Anthony Martial.
When the France international was handed a starting spot, the 21-year-old struggled to impress despite being a revelation in his first season at Old Trafford.
Manchester United have been heavily linked with a move to sign Croatia international Ivan Perisic but have struggled to agree a fee with Serie A giants Inter Milan for the winger.
Bale could be facing an uncertain future with Real Madrid chasing AS Monaco’s teenage sensation Kylian Mbappe to bolster their squad.
Former Arsenal striker Robson believes Bale would be a perfect addition to add more pace in wide areas to the Manchester United team next season.
“Jose wants a wide player and someone who can go past defenders with the ball,” Robson told ESPN FC.
“He has Martial, who hasn’t fulfilled his potential so far.
“He wants someone who can open up defences, and who better than Bale?”
Bale moved to Real Madrid in a world-record £85.3m deal from Tottenham Hotspur in 2013.
The Wales international has won three Champions League crowns, La Liga and the Copa del Rey at Madrid.
